Hi there GA
I visited you and so wanted to stumble your most excellent site but StumbleUpon is down :(
I will be back to visit you and read what you have to say. Thank you so much for posting about child safety and child protection.
Thank you also for responding to this post. I love having new commenters. It is thrilling to me to know that the global community of child protectors is growing.

Hi,

This news saddens me. I am a father of a 12-year old girl and I am trying to do everything to protect her, even from my self.

I truly believe that devils should be brought back to hell where they belong.

Glad you brought this up.

Hey Mr V, it is great to have your voice on the subject. I do wonder if these sorts of incidents act to silence all male bloggers in fear that they may be suspiciously viewed if they speak up against child sexual abuse.

As a sexual assault therapist I have seen a lot of healing happen when a non abusive male apologises, on behalf of what another man did, to a victim. I am so glad you were not silent on this issue Mr V. I greatly appreciate your comment.

I have been wondering about the worth and legalities of having blogging suitability cards - similar to the Blue Cards we have in QLD - if you want to work with children then you must have police clearance. Alleged sex predator family blogger may not be working directly with children but I have seen his avatar on teenagers sites and have witnessed a discourse with a teenager in a forum. I am sure that alleged sex predator would bleat that all is innocent and that it was conducted in a public forum.......predators are very open about their sneakiness. Children get sexually assaulted often in front of other people's eyes, without other person knowing what is really happening.

Stay strong Mr V. There are many of us who welcome male role models, teachers, coaches and friends. We understand that not all men are predators.

Spooky stuff to read about. I followed several of your links in this and other articles you've written on the subject this morning. One of the tragedies of the world, isn't it?

This is the sort of hidden evil suspicion people like us have to contend with doing our own particular jobs as well. Fortunately I've been lucky as the parents I've worked with have let me teach their kids without suspicion.

Might have to keep an eye on this little story.

Cheers.

Hello women...sorry, I have been out of action for a few days as we are over the top busy at Imaginif.

I am heartened at the concern shown by so many people regarding this. It shows that the blogosphere, (edited) and Entrecard are overwhelmingly ethical and protective (would have to be or I wouldn't be using them!)

It is also worth noting that not all men and not all male family bloggers are hiding something. Mostly they are as legit as we are.

As much as I would like to make names public, I cannot and will not. The information came to me from from a victim and I have not seen charge sheets - therefore, as much as I believe the person who told me, my information is "alleged". Because he was sentenced and served jail time, his offence is a matter of public record but I cannot identify his victim. Identifying him, identifies her.

This was reported to the police a long time ago when it first came to my attention. My concern was piqued again when he was wanting to advertise on my site. I have rejected his cards because I know of him...I don't know about others though. We all run the risk of accepting comments and cards from sex predators or other deviates. That is why we need to be guarded and know that none of us ever know the full truth.

Using the net though is a risk managed decision for me. I LOVE the people I have met through my blog and other networking sites and I won't be stopping because one alleged sex offender tried to advertise their family friendly blog on my site.

There is safety in numbers and in talking about child sexual abuse. Staying together gives a message to the offenders that we share a zero tolerance of violence against children.
