FREE Survivor in Cairns group

Calling all women survivors of child abuse in Cairns and surrounds.
FREE friendship and craft group at Imaginif.
Survivors are the most creative and inspiring people I have ever worked with. Use your survival skills for your own good rather than the good of your perpetrators: teach and empower other women while making some new friends. Join our informal and weekly friendship circle, Crafty Survivors, and teach us how to make the things you do, how to survive the way you have. This is life recycling at its best.
With a focus on doing craft work mixed with a good splattering of magic peer counselling, we meet weekly at Imaginif (every Friday from 11am to 2pm). Bring something to contribute to a shared lunch. Stay for a short time or stay for the whole three hours. Bring your art and craft to work on or just sit and chat with other women survivors.
This is an informal friendship group with no cost. It is FREE. It is not a therapy group (Megan from Imaginif volunteers her time and space but does not do therapy for the group), a pick up joint or a place of harm. It is a circle of women survivors of child abuse. A circle of women who use their skills to better themselves and help others. It is, Survivor, in Cairns.
We are currently working on gluing survivors stories to tags for the Teddy Tour. Some people are knitting Teddies and some are working on their own projects. Sometimes we talk, sometimes we don’t.
If you are a female survivor of child abuse, we are a safe and survivor friendly place for you. If you are a crafty survivor with home made arts and crafts to sell, consider using the Imaginif web site as a point of sale.
Ring Megan Bayliss on 4031 0489 for more information. ..or just turn up next Friday sometime between 11am and 2pm.

That’s it. We’re moving to Cairns.
What a wonderful, wonderful group that must be.
Hello A. Welcome back to the land where I do not get to sleep in (just got your email and had a delicious fruit fly laugh).
I would love it if you all moved to Cairns…would be cheaper in phone calls for us both
When you come to Cairns you are invited to do a drama workshop for the group…and teach us all the craft that you and the kewl khicks do.
Mxxxxxxxxx
Pfft! Phone bills are just exchanges of energy, you big dag!
But I would love to move to Cairns. Jazzy says I am not allowed to teach craft though, because this morning I super glued a googly eye to my fingernail (accidentally!)
Drama I can do very well.
Megan
I just LOVE THIS STUFF!!!!! Bring on the healing…

Here’s a good video to help teach children to be safe from predators:

It part of a fantastic animated video by Grand Design Productions called Starfish Cove.
Now that is a GREAT little video. Thanks for that Rob. Am I able to use it in any of my trainings please?
I wish this group was nationawide, even statewide. There is nothing like it for adults who have been through a life of such depths, to come out the other side and raise a family without legacy of the past. (Unless one goes into the 13 step programs).
