$5.00 Teddies Help survivors of Sexual Assault

The Teddy Tour helps give survivors of sexual assault (male, female,child or adult) a confidential voice. Anonymous story tags, completed by survivors, are attached to a Teddy and put on display for the world to hear the affects of sexual assault.
Because of the cost of insurance, we are doing an all year round, online, Teddy Tour these days. We ask for survivors around the world to fill in a little story tag, I attach it to a Teddy, take a photo and put it onto the Teddy Tour Site. The site gets great hits so I know people are looking and reading the stories of the survivors.
For Reclaim the Night (last Friday in Oct), Imaginif is hosting a Teddy Tour display at 30 James St, North Cairns. We will have a late afternoon get together and Teddy viewing and reading. It will be a gold coin entry fee with all proceeds going towards survivors of sexual assault.
What we really need are donations of new Teddies or donations of $5.00 for a survivor to make a Teddy. These Teddies can each wear a tag and will then be sold to raise funds for survivor’s counselling and group work.

If you know any survivors of sexual assault that may like to fill in a story tag, this is what they need to complete:
• Teddy’s name
• Teddy’s age when 1st sexually abused
• Who sexually abused Teddy
• What town/country it happened in
• Where Teddy now lives
• Message from this Teddy to the rest of the world
If you are a survivor and you would like to send in your own Teddy (new only please) with story tag attached, it would be lovingly received and proudly displayed.

I’ve also just had a phone call from a woman who will be dropping in a couple of huge Teddies. She saw the story on The Teddy Tour that the Cairns Sun ran this week.
It is fantastic that there are caring people around.
